Hold community engagement meeting at O.B. Whaley: We will be holding stakeholder engagement meetings on March 8 to explain our Board of Trustees' direction from the February 10 Board Meeting. The March 8 community engagement meeting has several purposes: (Spanish & Vietnamese Translation will be available)
- - to clarify the status of the school consolidation actions by our Board of Trustees
- - to explain the possible actions for school building use including a grade-up/grade/in model
- - to address questions about Options B, C, and D
- - to dispel assumptions and to lay out the potential impact of program possibilities
- - to take input and ideas from stakeholders for program options and alternative school uses
We invite the Whaley families to take part in the community engagement meeting on March 8 at O.B. Whaley . We realize that consolidating a school is an incredibly difficult process that impacts our staff, students and families. As we face more rapidly declining enrollment due to the movement of families out of the Bay Area, this decision is in the best interest of all students, and will allow our district to maintain our innovative and excellent programs, student to teacher ratios and prepare our students for our increasingly competitive global society.
Recommence the Superintendent’s School Consolidation Advisory Committee (SSAC): The SSAC will meet on March 2, 2022, with the same members. The purpose of the SSAC meeting is not to redo the process, but to review the determinations made by the committee and to review any data that might have changed, such as enrollment numbers. At this meeting, we will share the Option Plan presented to the Board on February 10 and address any questions from Committee members. The committee will also recommend which school to consolidate, and into which district school(s) students will be placed.
Meet with O.B. Whaley staff and families: District staff will be meeting with staff at O.B. Whaley on March 1 to explain the Board's action and direction as well as the process going forward.
