Dear Parents and Students, Welcome back to a brand new school year! It is my sincere hope that you enjoyed your summer with your children and took time to refuel in an effort to prepare for the busy 2019-2020 school year planned. Wow, it seems so strange to say 2020! As August approaches, one of the things we consider most important is providing a safe and nurturing environment for your children. When we speak of safety, this includes coming to and from school, general safety such as fire drills, and working in partnership with you to empower your children with the necessary skills to respond to conflict and appropriate behavior in and throughout the school. The skills they learn here are designed to prepare them for life beyond the classroom. Last school year, together with our staff, we began our second year of implementation of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS). You will receive more information on the details as we roll out our program for students, and we look forward to working with you as our partner for support. The focus is on creating safe, respectful and responsible school through all aspects of your children's life. We live by these three simple rules. The intent is to catch, teach and model students doing the "right" thing. We hope you will partner with us and use these rules at home as well. Please look for more information in your child's agenda and plan on attending one of our PBIS meetings (tbd) that will assist you with the tools to mirror those same strategies at home. Important Notice Regarding Breakfast and Lunch Charging Procedure and Free/Reduced Lunch applications for the 2019-2020 The Evergreen Child Nutrition Services Department takes pride in serving nutritious meals daily to our students. We are firm believers that hungry students cannot learn. Under no circumstances do we want a child to go without lunch. We understand that parents are busy and may occasionally forget to pack a lunch or send in money. However the number of students with a negative balance has grown significantly over the last year. If your child has an outstanding balance please send in your payment before Thursday June 14, 2019 to ensure that proper credit is applied to your child's account and they do not start the next year with a negative balance. To check your student's account balance, make payments, set up low balance email notifications, or track meal transactions, please visit www.MySchoolBucks.com. Do be advised that payments made online can take up to 24 hours to process. IMPORTANT: Beginning August 21, 2019 your students will only be allowed two (2) charges, or carry a negative balance of $7.00, on their lunch account. There will continue to be no extension of credit at the middle schools or for a la carte purchases. Please ensure your child has money on their account or send cash or check for those purchases. As we reach mid way of the school year it is critical that emergency cards be updated with current information. The staff uses these cards to contact parents in the event of an emergency. Moreover, students will only be released to the people listed on the emergency card. If your phone number or addresses changes, please notify the office immediately. If you have already registered with "Parent portal" and have updated your contact information we thank you. We encourage all parents to register on Parent portal at www.eesd.org or on our school web page and click on parent portal.

ABSENCES AND TARDIES Dove Hill conforms to state policies for excused and unexcused absences and tardies. Our district also has a Phone Call-Out system that will call a student's home when he or she is absent. Whether it is an excused or unexcused absence, the system calls to add another layer of accountability in the whereabouts of a student. However, it is still very important that you call us to let us know if your son or daughter is ill so we can mark him or her as an excused absence. TARDIES please do your very best to get your son or daughter to school on time. It is important for him or her to get off to a smooth start. It is also important to their classmates and teachers. Being to school ON TIME is respectful and needed when there are so many students to account for and so much to learn each day. Thank you to all the students who come to school on time every day except when ill.
