Dr. Marena Doxie to be Chaboya's New Principal

Evergreen School District Announces New Principal for Chaboya Middle School

SAN JOSE, CA – Dr. Emy Flores, Superintendent of the Evergreen School District appointed Dr. Marena Doxie as the new Principal of Chaboya Middle School subject to ratification by the Board of Trustees in the next special/regular board meeting.

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Leila Welch, Board President, stated "Evergreen School District is looking forward to Dr. Doxie's leadership. Dr. Doxie believes in supporting the academic and social-emotional needs of all students. The Board of Trustees is confident that with Dr. Doxie's knowledge and experience, she will successfully lead Chaboya Middle School "

Dr. Emy Flores, Superintendent stated, "We are excited to have Dr. Doxie to be the new Principal of Chaboya Middle School. As coach and assistant principal, Dr. Doxie worked tirelessly to promote advocacy and equity for both students and teachers. I am confident that Dr. Doxie will lead Chaboya students to continue to grow and thrive. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Doxie!"

Dr. Marena Doxie is a long-time member of the Evergreen teaching community. Serving as a teacher, mentor, instructional coach, and administrator in both elementary and middle school levels,. Starting at Quimby Oak Middle School in 2007, Dr. Doxie taught both seventh and eighth grades History/Social Studies where she encouraged students to make connections between history and current events as positive change agents in our society. As coach and assistant principal, Dr. Doxie continued to promote advocacy, risk-taking, and equity for both students and teachers. With a passion for ongoing professional development and support for teachers, Dr. Doxie also coordinated multiple learning opportunities for staff throughout the district. Excited to start a principalship at Chaboya Middle School, Dr. Doxie is dedicated to supporting a school culture that is student-centered, enhances parental and community partnerships, and supports all staff. Outside of work, Dr. Doxie enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, and working on complex puzzles; she earned her Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from Mills College in Oakland in 2020.

Dr. Doxie stated, "It is an honor and a pleasure to join the Colts! In leading Chaboya in its next thriving chapter, I am excited to be part of its rich history and traditions. I look forward to building on its legacy of providing rigorous learning opportunities balanced with academic and social-emotional wellness in partnership with our families. I look forward to working with you in the upcoming school year."
