Silver Oak Newsroom
An evening of music...
On Wednesday, May 22, families and friends were treated to a wonderful show that displayed the learned musical talents of our upper grade Silver Oak students!
The 4th Grade Choir sang an energetic and entertaining set of songs that demonstrated their new knowledge of rhythm, beat, tempo, and volume. They sang impressive rounds and variations within some of their songs, and the audience was even called upon during one of the numbers to "pat-clap-snap" to the beat.
The Silver Oak Beginning and Advanced Bands treated the audience to a wide variety of songs, featuring many solos for a variety of instruments. It is quite an accomplishment for our young 5th and 6th grade musicians to successfully play a show like this, especially those that had never played an instrument before this fall. Bravo to all!
We are very thankful to our talented instructors, Ms. Lauren Haber of Music for Minors (4th Grade Choir) & Mr. Andrew Boyd (Band), for all of their time & heartfelt preparation and instruction that made this concert a joy to watch!
Thank you to all the parents that support their children in music by contributing to the Fall Pledge Drive and/or registering their student in our extracurricular band program. Classroom music for all grades is funded by Pledge Drive, and our extracurricular programs are covered via registration fees. Without you, music at Silver Oak would not be possible.

This year was a fresh start for our music program as we welcomed two wonderful new music instructors to Silver Oak.
Mr. Andrew Boyd is Silver Oak's new band director and 5th/6th grade classroom music instructor. Mr. Boyd brings a lifetime wealth of music knowledge and experience to the students of Silver Oak. He is a graduate of the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. He has enjoyed this first year with us very much and is very impressed with the musicality and talent our students have demonstrated.
Ms Lauren Haber of Music for Minors (MFM) is the music teacher for our 4th grade choir, and also the classroom music instructor for 3rd/4th grade, and Kindergarten (spring). Lauren has a Master's in Music (Vocal Performance) from the Manhattan School of Music, as well as an AD from the Aaron Copland School of Music. She has a background teaching voice and piano with young students and has extensive operatic performance experience as a soprano. Lauren also serves as MFM's Director of Talent.
This event is proudly supported by Silver Oak PTO.
