Our first year of participation in the National Geographic GeoBee is a wrap! 26 students, grades 4th-6th, competed by answering questions covering geography, civilizations, cultures, physical features, and more. In the end, Sudhir V. reigned supreme and finished in first place! Congratulations also to our second place finisher, Supriya B., and third place finisher, Arjun R!

The Growth and Development curriculum will be presented to 5th and 6th grade students in Evergreen School District this spring. Parents are invited to a preview of these videos on Monday, January 27. The 5th grade program overview is from 5:30 p.m. – 7:15 p.m. The 6th grade program overview is from 7:15 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The presentations will be held at Carolyn Clark Elementary School in the multipurpose room. The school is located at 3701 Rue Mirassou. Children are not allowed at the parent previews.

In observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day school will be closed on Monday, January 20, 2020. The holiday is officially celebrated on the third Monday of January. Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He worked as a Baptist minister and a civil rights activist and began making a significant impact on race relations in the mid-1950s. He was also a major spokesperson for nonviolent activism during the Civil Rights Movement. This movement protested very successfully the racial discrimination perpetuated in federal and state law.
