Options for School Choice
All districts must inform parents how to enroll in a school within the district that is different than the one assigned. Students who attend schools other than those assigned by the district are referred to as “transfer students” throughout this notification. There is one process for choosing a school within the district which the parent lives (School Choice transfer), and separate processes for selecting schools in other districts (interdistrict transfer).
Through the years, it has been the practice of the Evergreen School District to work collaboratively with parents in approving student transfer requests. In the past we were fortunate that some district schools have had space available and therefore, enabled the district to grant student transfers. However, during recent years, space has become very limited, making it more difficult to grant transfer requests.
The 2018-2019 School Choice Transfer Application Period within Evergreen School District will be:
Monday, April 30, 2018 through Friday, May 18, 2018
School Choice applications received by the Evergreen School District during the above window will be included in the initial lottery. Requests which are submitted after the initial lottery will be placed on a waiting list and processed in a timely manner. Interdistrict Transfer Request
If you live outside the Evergreen School District attendance area, and would like for your child to be enrolled at one of our schools, an Interdistrict Transfer request may be completed. To begin the process, you must request an Interdistrict release with your resident school district. Approved transfers from your district of residence should be received by the Evergreen School District office (3188 Quimby Rd. San Jose, CA 95148) by Friday, May 18, 2018 for the first consideration for placement for 2018-2019.
