Yes, We Did It Silver Oak!

It's amazing to think six short weeks ago we asked our parent community to come together to help save our Fab Lab. Undaunted, our parents took on the challenge, working hard to achieve what at the time seemed like an ambitious goal.

I am excited to announce, with the funds PTO raised this spring as a community, a corporate grant from KLA-Tencor Foundation, along with supplemental PTO funding, we have enough to overcome District imposed budget cuts, and keep our Fab Lab open full time this coming school year. Silver Oak Elementary PTO will be able to support our full-time STEAM Specialist, Mrs. Gardener, and our annual STEAM operation grant in 2018-19.

Special thanks are in order! AJ Gibson, our president of Silver Oak PTO, who tirelessly and expertly led our successful fundraising efforts this spring. Geraldine Leggio and her Parents' Night Out event team - This event raised a net total of approximately $35,000. Dawn Hofmeister & Kathleen Kelley for running the We Care online fundraising campaign - This campaign raised $14,820 for our cause. Dixie Lopes for pursuing and securing a grant from KLA-Tencor for $10,000. the 6th Grade Class of 2018 for gifting a special class graduation cash donation. our Sponsors that donated specifically in support of our STEAM Lab - thank you very much for your generous donations! Sponsor cash donations made up approximately $8,500 of our PNO event revenue. Additional donations through our We Care campaign were much needed and very appreciated additions to our fundraising efforts. all Silver Oak families & friends that contributed to either or both the We Care campaign and the Parents' Night Out event & auction.

We are very lucky to be a part of a school that is so well supported and cared for by its staff, student families and surrounding community. Every Silver Oak student will benefit greatly from this community's generosity. Thank you all so much.
