ESD Trustees Announces New Director of Safety, Child Welfare and Attendance

SAN JOSE, CA – The Evergreen School District Board of Trustees has appointed Mr. Aaron Brengard as Director of Safety, Child Welfare and Attendance at their September 9, 2021 Board of Trustees Regular Meeting. 

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, Chris Corpus, President, stated “Evergreen School District is looking forward to having Mr. Brengard as our new Director of Safety, Child Welfare and Attendance. This is a new position in Evergreen and the Board of Trustees is confident that Mr. Brengard’s skills and experience as a veteran school administrator will fulfill the needs of our community, especially the school population in safety, welfare and attendance.” 

Dr. Emy Flores, Superintendent, stated “I am delighted to see Mr. Brengard move into this critical position, especially during such a challenging time in history.  Mr. Brengard is an advocate for students and has significantly impacted the school communities he’s served. His experience and expertise will undoubtedly serve our Evergreen community well.”

Mr. Brengard has served as the principal of Katherine Smith Elementary School and LeyVa Middle School for the past 10 years. He has also served as a teacher, English learner instructional coach,  project specialist, and assistant principal at Quimby Oak Middle School.  

As principal, Mr. Brengard was involved in many teaching and leadership programs and has been given awards and recognitions such as National Faculty, PBL Works, Evergreen “Just Do It” Principal of the Year, New Tech Network Change Agent, Connecting the Dots anthology contribution author (published in 2015), School Climate Symposium and California State Superintendent School Conditions Workgroup (2017) for State Superintendent, Tom Torlakson. 

Mr. Brengard holds a Bachelor of Arts, Liberal Studies, Summa Cum Laude, Valedictorian (2001), Master of Arts, Education Administration and Supervision (2008) from San Jose State University and Associate of Arts, Summa Cum Laude Study Abroad (London 1997) from DeAnza College.

“For the past 10 years as principal of Katherine Smith and LeyVa Middle School, I have been so fortunate to serve an incredible community providing students with rich, diverse, and positive school experiences.  As an Evergreen resident and parent, this is personal for me. All students deserve to be safe, healthy, and at school. As Director of Safety, Child Welfare, and Attendance, I am excited to bring my passion and dedication to support the entire Evergreen community. When not working, I love spending time or traveling with my wife Allicyn and two daughters Haley (16) and Lily(13), especially for our annual summer trip to Kauai.“
