In order to be eligible for participation in extracurricular/co-curricular activities, a student in the middle schools shall have earned a minimum cumulative 2.0 grade point average in all enrolled courses on a 4.0 scale during the preceding grading period with no "F" grades.
All transfer students will be required to meet district requirements at the time of matriculation. Eligibility may be determined by the grades from their previous school or, if necessary, after receiving their first progress report or report card.
When a student becomes ineligible to participate in extracurricular or cocurricular activities in the upcoming grading period, or when he/she is subject to probation, the principal or designee shall provide written notice to the student and his/her parent/guardian.
Eligibility: Seasonal Activities (all sports and 4-8 week activities)
The following procedures are for seasonal activities:
Each student is notified of the eligibility requirements at the beginning of each season.
Any student may be selected for team play during the first four weeks of a season.
On the next issuance of an official grade report or progress report, or at the second official grade report if two reports are given in a season, students not meeting grade requirements are excluded for the balance of a season.
All students will be held to the same standards.
Eligibility: Year-Long Activities (except Student Body Officers)
The following procedures are for year-long activities:
All students may participate during the first quarter of the school year.
At the issuance of the first quarter of an official grade report, students not meeting grade requirements are placed on probation for up to four and one-half weeks.
Students are eligible to fully participate during probation.
Students are ineligible for remainder of school year if not eligible after one (1) probation or when becoming ineligible any time after the first semester.
Exceptions may be made by the principal for one (1) probation period (4-1/2 weeks).
Extracurricular/co-curricular activities shall be under the general supervision of school authorities and certificated employees whenever they are conducted under the name of the school district.
