Information for Caregivers of Students in Grades 5 and 7
5th Grade Curriculum
Human Growth and Development (HG&D) is taught annually in 5th grade in Evergreen School District.
In conjunction with long-term Human Growth and Development partner organization Cardea Services, a Parent/Caregiver Human Growth & Development Curriculum Review Night was held on April 14, 2026 to review the Human Growth and Development curriculum: "Healthy Kids."

7th Grade Curriculum
As required by the California Healthy Youth Act, Comprehensive Sexual Health & HIV/AIDS Instruction - Health (California Department of Education), Comprehensive Sexual Health Education is taught in 7th grade in Evergreen School District.
A Parent/Caregiver Information Night for students was held on March 10, 2026 to review the Middle School Comprehensive Sexual Health Education curriculum: "Rights, Respect, Responsibility."

Opt-Out
State law allows parents/caregivers to remove (opt-out) their student from this instruction, either selected lessons or the entire program. If you do not choose for your student to participate in Comprehensive Sexual Health Education in grades 5 or 7, please send a written note to your school principal or your child's science teacher before the lessons begin. If you plan to remove your student from specific lessons only, please list those lessons on your written note.
Please note that if you opt out of selected lessons for your child, there is a chance that these lesson topics may come up again during one of the following lessons through student or classroom discussions.
