TK-8 District of Choice

Superintendent Letter

Dear ESD Families,

As we prepare for the start of an exciting new school year, which begins in just a couple of weeks, it is my privilege to welcome you to the start of the 2022-2023 school year. I consider this a true honor to have been selected as your new Superintendent of Schools.  For those who do not know me, I am a native Californian and a product of the public school system. The Evergreen School District is a place that I am thrilled and excited to call home. Additionally, I am also excited to join an educational community that focuses on providing excellence and equity in education for every student.

The Evergreen community is a special place where families, staff, and community partners care deeply about each other and the overall well-being of our scholars. After successfully completing our first year of returning to in-person learning and instruction. I want to reassure you that our entire staff at the Evergreen School District is dedicated to continuing to provide our students with an excellent education no matter the challenges we may encounter.

As an Evergreen family of professional educators, we will work together with you, your student, and each other to engage our scholars and ensure that they reach their full potential. We have accomplished a lot in the Evergreen School District. Yet, our work is still ongoing.  From principals leading and supporting teachers, to engaged parents who are involved in their child’s education, and community members invested in building better neighborhoods and educating the scholar of tomorrow — together we will ensure a school community of high expectations of all children with resulting high outcomes for every student.

We look forward to seeing your students on Wednesday, August 17, first day of instruction for the 2022-2023 school year. For your reference, here is the 2022-2023 ESD calendar.

Please know you have my commitment to excellence each day. We will serve you and your family with confidence, compassion, and courage. Once more, welcome back and together let us make this a great school year.

At Your Service,

Dr. Antoine Hawkins
Superintendent
