In Evergreen School District we offer full day transitional kindergarten (TK) education in our district to help provide a foundation for our youngest learners.
Transitional kindergarten is the first year of a two-year developmental kindergarten program for "young" five year olds. This school grade serves as a bridge between preschool and kindergarten, to provide students with time to develop fundamental skills needed for success in school in a setting that is appropriate to the student's age and development. Our teachers create a warm and nurturing learning environment that allows students to flourish. Our program cultivates their natural curiosity and wonder by encouraging inquiry and by teaching lessons through hands-on learning. At the same time, we balance academic learning with socialization and lots of fun to inspire a love of learning at a young age.
When selecting the program that best meets your family's learning needs, Evergreen offers these three options to choose from:
Education in the classroom
Our teacher led, in classroom TK program is designed to build a solid foundation for success in school for students eligible to attend this program. In Evergreen School District full day transitional kindergarten programs are available at select elementary schools. Learn more.
We offer a parent-led and Evergreen School District-supported homeschooling experience for transitional kindergarten (TK) and kindergarten students. This program is ideal for a parent who is available at least three hours per day for direct student instruction. Learn more.
Remote Learning Academy
We offer TK students enrolled in our district an option for independent study remote learning. TK students enrolled in Remote Learning Academy receive their instruction through Pods4Learning. Learn more.
Enrolling in transitional kindergarten
If you are interested in enrolling your child in our transitional kindergarten classroom program, see our Enrollment and Registration webpage for more information about age eligibility and other requirements. Students whose home school doesn't offer a TK program will be assigned a school closest to their neighborhood school. If you are interested in enrolling in one of our independent study programs, please contact our program director Derrick Watkins.
