My Philosophy of Education

There are a couple of key components that are essential to educating children.

The key to quality education is for educators to empower all students with self value, knowledge, skills, and practical life experiences with the purpose of enabling them to be successful in their future. I believe that all students are capable of becoming literate and of possessing sufficient skills in the areas of listening, speaking, reading, writing, mathematics, visual perception, technology, and most art forms. Also, children’s lessons should be presented in a variety of modalities such as musical, visual, kinesthetic and auditorially. Students should be challenged with lessons that address critical thinking, problem solving, comparing and contrasting and analyzing. The students will need to make decisions that will benefit both themselves and the community. I believe it is critical for teachers to set high standards for their students in order for children to reach their full potential.

In addition, I believe parent involvement is a crucial component to children becoming successful in school. Can children be successful without parent involvement? Yes! However, I feel their educational experiences are enhanced and better developed when parents are involved. Sometimes, language or cultural barriers interfere with teachers trying to get a message across to students; therefore, parents can support their child by becoming his or her resource. The parent is the child’s first teacher, so getting them involved in their children’s education is another key for all around success.
