Please continue to check the Friday folder every week.  Also, please help with homework as needed but have your child complete all homework independently. Homework should be neat and mistakes should be corrected before your child turns it in.  Thanks.

In January we have been studying about weather and the children made a study booklet about evaporation, condensation, precipitation, lightning and thunder.  We will now move on to learning about rocks and soil.  Look for the Science textbook and read it together at home.

We are writing paragraphs and stories with lots of descriptive language and adjectives.  Lots of practice is needed  in order to be prepared for the April writing proficiencies. 

In math we are beginning to learn how to multiply and the children are expected to explain how problems are solved.  Fractions is  also a unit of study at this time.  We are working hard at solving story problems and continue to review counting money, giving change, geometry and telling time.  Again, please see the web links for added practice with the numerous 2nd grade math skills.
