Our third poem and quote project will focus on the theme of puzzles and mysteries. Please find an appropriate quote about puzzles and mysterie from the book Chasing Vermeer by Blue Balliett.
A quote can be a line or a bit of dialogue from the story. Please email your quote to me so that it can be posted to this page. Your quote must be unique. No one else may use your quote.

Poem Guidelines:
For the poem section, students will choose a poem by a famous, established poet (excluding Shel Silverstein and Jack Prelutsky) or they may write their own poem of approximately a page in length. Anonymous authors will not be accepted!
This poem must be written out or word processed, illustrated on an 8.5" X 11" piece of paper, mounted on a piece of construction paper (0.25" border), memorized, and the student must be ready to present it in class from memory. Students must have their names in the lower right hand corner of their poem.
A brief, three or four-sentence biography of the author must be included. Analysis of meaning and connections you have made with this poem must be written on the back and presented orally as well.

The quote must be on paper no larger than 8.5" x 5.5" (half a piece of unlined paper), neatly written out or word processed with the name of the character who said it or thought it, illustrated and mounted on construction paper with a border around the edges of the paper not to exceed 1/4 of an inch.
Students must have their names in the lower right hand corner of the paper, with a personal analysis of the meaning of the quote and how it connects to you, to other texts, and to the world written on the back.
