TekMom - Resources for students
Brain Pop - Brain Pop is a great website with movies and quizzes on a variety of topics. It is subscription based. Recently they have changed their policy of allowing free access to 3 free movies per day per computer. Still worth exploring. Our school does not have a subscription.

Houghton Mifflin’s Education Place - We use only their Math, Math Expressions, and Social Studies programs but this site has games, worksheets, and information in all subject areas. Check out their support for writing.
Internet Classrooms I4C - Fourth grade skill builders and interactive activities
Pocket Mod - Make a little foldable book for your pocket with calendars, games, writing spaces and more.
Recipes4Success Citation Maker- A site to help you cite references used for a research report bibliography.
Ottobib - Type in the ISBN number of a book and this site will create a citation for your bibliography for you.
Easy Bib - An easy to use website that will help you create a bibliography if you have the URL for a website or ISBN number of a book.

Comic Creator - Make and print your own comic strip.
Grammar Glossary - Look up grammar terms and learn about correct grammar to improve your writing.
Teacher Book Wizard - A Scholastic site designed to help teachers find just the right books for their students. Parents and students could use the site as well. You can find out the reading and interest level of a book or find books by theme or genre.
Leveled Book Lists - NEW Looking for a book that is at just the right level? This easy to use site helps you find the approximate “grade level” of a wide variety of children’s books. The most appropriate books for a particular student may be below, at, or above his/her actual grade level. The books listed on this site are not necessarily AR books, although many are. The reported book levels may vary between AR and this site due to different methods for determining levels, but they should be close in most cases.
Chris Van Allsburg’s Official Site - A place to explore fascinating and slightly strange world of this prize winning author and illustrator.
The Write Site - Part of the new Social Studies online resources that offers information about the writing process as well as specific help with several different kinds of writing.
Scholastic’s Writing with Writers - Students work with authors, editors, and illustrators in exclusive workshops designed to help them in developing their skills.
Book Adventure - Internet reading incentive program provides thousands of titles for students to read. Students will need to register a user name and password. Students may search for titles in areas of interest and at specific reading levels. Students may take online quizzes on books they have read to earn incentive prizes. In order to receive incentive prizes, a parent's Email address must be provided during registration so that Book Adventure can obtain your permission to send prizes to students. Students may use this site from home. Check out the Parents Place!
JFS’s Accelerated Book List - Provides a list of books for which we have reading quizzes on our school server. Students are tested and given a reading range. Example 3.5-4.2 means that the student will probably make the most growth in reading by choosing books that are between third grade fifth month and fourth grade second month. When students complete an Accelerated Reader book, they are encouraged to take a test on the book on a school computer. Students earn points based on the level and length of the books they read.

Grammar Slammer - an online resource for grammar and punctuation
Cursive Practice This site provides work sheets to practice cursive and even has animations to show how to form the letters. Not all of the letters are formed in exactly the same way we've been practicing, but they are close. You can download the worksheets and even the kind of paper we use for teaching cursive. You may wish to monitor the pages that you download as this site provides worksheets for both general education and Christian schools.
Newbery Medal Books - The Newbery Medal is awarded annually by the American Library Association for the most distinguished American children's book published the previous year.
Starfall - A sight for emerging readers. Great for English learners or younger siblings.
Author’s Purpose - A variety of links to help you practice identifying the author’s purpose. Is it to inform, entertain, persuade, or to describe?
California Department of Education Reading Lists - Based on your child's score on the California English-Language Arts Standards Test, a specific list has been designated as appropriate for him or her in terms of reading difficulty and interest level.
Spelling City - Click the student button in the upper right hand corner. Then choose Find a List in the menu. Search by Teacher Name. Use Kathryn Whyte. You’ll see the names of the spelling lists I’ve entered so far. Click on your current list. Try Teach Me, Test Me, and Play a Game. There are even cursive worksheets you can print out. The site will say the word for you and use it in a sentence.

Houghton Mifflin Textbook online - Go to http://www.eduplace.com/kids/math.jsp Under the Student Tab choose your state if prompted. Then Math. Click on MatheBook. User name is hm4class26 Password is student.
Sign in and choose the middle math icon to access the book.

Math-Drills.com - Need a little extra practice? All kinds of math drill worksheets are available from this site.
Math Playground - Movies, games, tips, tricks, and manipulatives to help with problem solving. A great site!
A Maths Dictionary for Kids - Everything you always wanted to know about math.
National Library of Virtual Manipulatives - Manipulatives for several strands of mathematics provide models for concrete understanding of many math concepts.

Macmillan Science Textbook website - Click on the fourth grade book to see summaries and games. To see the textbook, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the orange OSE badge. The username is casci04 and the password is Redwood for all students.
