           This week we are reading Seven Spools of Thread  from our anthology.  There will be a vocabulary, comprehension, and spelling test on this story on Friday.

        In math, we will begin Chapter 8 and will learn about customary and metric units of length.

       Our class will have a cursive test on Friday.  Students should bring their cursive book home to practice the letters we have learned.

        Also on Friday, there will be a party for students who have reached their AR goals.  I will announce the winners on Thursday.  Students may bring or buy their own lunch and will eat with me in the classroom. I will provide juice, cookies and a short movie. Each student who meets their goal will receive an award. 

        Students will take their second STAR test on the computer this week and will receive a new AR reading level and goal.  Look for the results of this test and the new goal in your child’s Friday folder.  I will provide another party at a later date to help motivate students to reach their reading goal.
